For the sixth time, the spotlight
at Harrow Shenzhen’s Christmas Concert
illuminated far more than
the stage alone. This year’s theme,
“The Light of Christmas”,
represents radiance that extends well
beyond the holiday itself.
It is the light of talent on stage, the light of creativity at the carnival, and the light of warmth within our community. Above all, it is the enduring light of Harrow tradition, shining brightly for six consecutive years.
01
A Mutual Glow On
and Off Stage
Stepping into Harrow Shenzhen’s Christmas concert, the orchestra’s string section gently set the scene. The Big Band’s jazz rhythms then joined in, infusing traditional carols with modern energy.
The classical movements performed by the Harrow Shenzhen Quartet resonated alongside the contemporary interpretations of the Cantonese Pop Choir. When the clear, youthful voices of the Lower School choir rang out, a tender light shimmered in the eyes of many parents.
The concert reached a particularly moving moment in its finale. All the performers gathered on stage to sing I Wish It Could Be Christmas by the British rock band Wizzard.
02
The Curiosity and Courage in “Penguin Pete’s” Eyes
The winter performance of Penguin Pete by our Early Years and Year 1–3 pupils brought laughter and joy to the entire school. Its story is simple yet meaningful: Pete, a penguin in Antarctica who, tired of receiving fish as a gift every year, sets off on a journey to the North Pole in search of Father Christmas.
Although our young actors might not have remembered every line, they learnt to share the stage and support one another under the spotlight. When Pete finally understood that “the best gift comes from the heart”, their pure and heartfelt performance touched every adult in the room.
03
The Vibrant Spectrum
of Youth at the Carnival
The Christmas Fair was a vivid showcase of Harrow Shenzhen students’ leadership. From colourful games to creative crafts, each stall was independently planned and meticulously organised by the students themselves. The light of Christmas at Harrow Shenzhen is kindled, nurtured, and carried forward by our students.
“We’re not selling products—we’re sharing joy!” remarked one student stallholder. This light shone throughout the entire journey, from idea to execution. It reminded everyone that giving and sharing are the simplest truths of the season.
04
The Warmth of
Community in Boarding
For Harrow Shenzhen boarders, the Christmas dinner held a special significance. As boarding students, parents, and staff came together, the evening grew exceptionally warm.
Students’ performances on stage showcased a year’s worth of growth and talent. Shared moments between parents and children during the festive season further strengthened family bonds. Over six years, what began as simply “celebrating a holiday” has evolved into creating a true “home away from home”, where warmth has grown into a lasting sense of belonging.
05
A Six-Year Legacy
of Warmth
The festive crescendo arrived quietly—a mysterious Santa unexpectedly appeared on campus!
Inside a carefully designed “Christmas Grotto”, Headmaster Mr Daniel Berry personally handed each child a gift along with his heartfelt wishes. This playful and heartfelt gesture not only heightened the Christmas spirit but also showcased the approachability and educational warmth of Harrow Shenzhen’s leadership.
This light connects past and present:
it once shone on the curious faces
of Harrow Shenzhen’s first students
and now brightens the smiles
of newly joined families.
Year after year, it reminds us that
while the holiday will pass and the
decorations will be put away,
the curiosity sparked,
the memories cherished,
and the growth witnessed will
remain in our hearts
—becoming the very light
that guides us forward.
Huge thanks to our awesome academic team
for all your hard work and dedication.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and
see you all in 2026, the Year of the Horse!
