In the Economics lesson at Harrow Shenzhen,
Year 13 student Roy delivered
an impressive presentation on his
Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)—an analysis
of the 2008 global financial crisis. Just a year ago,
Roy might not have imagined that this research
would earn him an offer from the prestigious
London School of Economics (LSE).
Beyond that, it also equipped him with
critical thinking skills to interpret
the world through a structured, analytical lens.

Roy’s journey is just one of many examples.
At Harrow Shenzhen,
our Economics and Business Studies programmes
are redefining education in these fields.
They are moving beyond textbooks to
foster real-world insight,
interdisciplinary learning,
and the skills essential for future leadership.

At Harrow Shenzhen, we strive to empower our young economists to become visionary leaders and critical thinkers.

Our approach to teaching economics is grounded in relevance and real-world application. Learning goes beyond the classroom through immersive experiences such as:

Shenzhen Stock
Exchange Field Trip:
Students gain first-hand exposure to capital markets. They also engage in insightful discussions with financial professionals about the impact of regulatory policies.

Industry Engagement:
We regularly invite guest speakers—including university academics, investment banking executives, and startup founders—to share their insights and experiences with our students.

Global Competition Success:
Our student teams achieved remarkable results at the 2025 National Economics Challenge (NEC). They earned multiple awards for both individual and school performances.

Interdisciplinary Thinking:
Where Economics Meets the World

At Harrow Shenzhen, economics is never taught in isolation. Our carefully designed interdisciplinary projects inspire students to apply economic principles across diverse domains:
01
Economics + Business:
Through simulated stock trading and strategic planning in sectors like shipping, students explore how economics can serve as a catalyst for innovation and societal progress.

02
Economics + Art:
Students creatively interpret economic concepts—such as GDP growth—by designing immersive light installations and three-dimensional visual artworks.

03
Economics + Technology:
In digital marketing projects, students collaborate with local businesses to test market hypotheses and develop data-driven strategies using real-world software tools.
