From a UK Private School
to Harrow Shenzhen:
The Conviction of
a British Education Insider
Harrow Shenzhen
Sammi spent many years studying at a private school in the UK. During this time, she gained a deep understanding of holistic education. When Harrow came to Shenzhen, she didn’t hesitate for a moment.

”
Sammi
Harrow places a strong emphasis on leadership development and has nurtured many great leaders. Harrow Shenzhen is among the few schools that offer an authentic British education while also leveraging the resources of the Greater Bay Area.
”
Sammi describes Harrow Shenzhen in three words:
「 Ceremony 」
– From the uniform to the opening ceremony, every detail reflects the weight of history.
「 Honour 」
– House competitions encourage team spirit and leadership.
「 Community 」
– Close interaction between the school and parents fosters a warm family atmosphere.
The transformation in her child, Aston, affirmed her choice. When he first arrived, Aston was quiet and introverted. Today, he has grown into a confident House Captain. He delivers speeches before the entire school and organises House activities. He also serves as an Open Day ambassador, where he explains campus culture to visiting parents.

From being nervous to becoming composed, Aston’s communication and improvisational skills have improved significantly. Together with the school’s unique LAMDA professional training, this has laid a strong foundation for his future studies abroad

A Global-Minded Elite
Family Rooted in Shenzhen:
Asking About Education
Harrow Shenzhen
Sophia is a discerning parent from Shenzhen who is rational and thoughtful. She also has her own clear standards when it comes to education. When selecting a school, she asked herself three questions:
”
Sophia
1. Can the school truly awaken a child’s intrinsic motivation to learn?
2. Can the child deeply integrate both Chinese and Western languages and cultures?
3. Does the curriculum respect individual differences and support personalised learning pathways?
”

her child (front row, far left)
In the end, Harrow Shenzhen answered all her questions.
Holistic education doesn’t focus on chasing scores. Instead, it helps children understand why they learn.
Chinese studies follow the national curriculum, with cultural activities integrated into a multicultural context every year.
Learning through play helps build a personalised support system step by step.
Sophia selected three words with Eastern aesthetic depth to describe Harrow Shenzhen: centuries-old heritage, elite education, and the greatest sound is silence (da yin xi sheng).
”
Sophia
The greatest sound is silence – education without visible traces. Truly powerful education flows like deep, still water, nurturing quietly without clamour.
”
Sophia’s children have thrived in the Early Years Centre, where the House system is introduced early. This fosters a strong sense of belonging and honour. Independence and character development are integrated into daily routines, from school uniform etiquette to behaviour norms. This reflects an elite education that permeates every detail.

Australia – Hong Kong – Shenzhen:
Three Children, Each Shining
in Their Own Way at Harrow
Harrow Shenzhen
Christy grew up in traditional Hong Kong schools and experienced the pressure of an exam-orientated education system. She later attended secondary school in Australia, where she discovered that progress could be made without “harsh grinding”. Two years ago, her family moved to Shenzhen and chose Harrow Shenzhen after comparing several schools.
Christy and her children participated
in the award ceremony.
”
Christy
Harrow Shenzhen’s curriculum is exactly the same as Harrow Hong Kong’s. The campus is newer, with fewer students and better resource allocation. My two older boys preferred the A Level system, so we ultimately chose Shenzhen.
”
Now, her three children have each found their own place at Harrow Shenzhen. The eldest son joined in Year 11 as a transfer student and missed a year of study due to curriculum alignment issues. The Headmaster personally discussed his IGCSE subject choices and scheduled catch-up classes with him. His grades steadily improved, and he was later awarded a Harrow Honour Scholarship.

The second son had no prior athletic background. However, his PE teacher recognised his potential and recruited him for the swim team. He now trains six days a week and has represented the school in competitions in Thailand. This year, he also participated in the World Scholar’s Cup debate competition. He successfully completed the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Silver Expedition at an altitude of 3,600 metres.

The youngest son, currently in Year 5, loves performing and music. The school has given him numerous opportunities to perform on stage. He even created his own PowerPoint presentation and successfully campaigned to become Deputy House Captain.
”
Christy
All three of them pursue excellence in their own way. Without the pressure of extra tutoring, they continually push their boundaries and grow happily. The greatest inspiration Harrow has given me is this: when education respects individuality, children naturally thrive.
”
Three families, different backgrounds,
yet united by a shared conviction.
Harrow Shenzhen, with its
more than 450 years of heritage,
authentic British educational system,
and personalised support network, responds:
When education respects individuality,
children don’t need to be “harshly pushed”
— they will drive themselves forward.
When home and school work in close
partnership, growth finds its warmest resonance.
