Six years since our founding,
our commitment has never wavered.
This week, Harrow Shenzhen held Speech Day 2026.
The event marked a new chapter of achievement for our community during the 2025-26 academic year:
– Harrow Shenzhen successfully passed the British Schools Overseas (BSO) inspection and accreditation. It is the first international school in Guangdong to receive this recognition. It places Harrow Shenzhen within a very select group of institutions trusted to deliver a truly world-class British education.
– The Class of 2026 has already received 215 offers from leading universities worldwide— an average of seven offers per student — including Imperial College London, UCL, the University of Hong Kong, the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor, Berklee College of Music, and the University of California system.
– Our A Level results reached record heights, with A* grades accounting for 33% (more than three times the UK national average), and A*/A grades reaching 60% (more than double the UK national average).
– This academic year, Harrow Shenzhen students attained a new school record for the number of awards won across international academic competitions, speech and debate, music, art, sports, and community service.……
Six Years of Dedication,
Outstanding Achievements

Head Master,
Harrow Shenzhen
Dear distinguished guests, parents, staff and pupils:
Welcome to Speech Day 2026. The final school day of the academic year 2025-2026. The opportunity to celebrate together what we have all accomplished. And as we reflect on what we are about to celebrate I would like to ask every pupil in the audience today, do not reflect on what you can do but what can you do to support the school.
This view of a community is what we are starting to see grow and flourish. The fellowship of each individual is much more powerful than the gains and successes of the individual. When an individual and the organisation they represent work together in perfect harmony the outcomes will last a lifetime. Creating a child who loves learning for life is about individual commitment and a team of people working together to support excellent outcomes.
“It takes a village to raise a child” is a proverb meaning that a child’s development is shaped by the whole community, not just their parents.
The idea is that children grow up best when many people contribute to their care, guidance, and safety—family members, teachers, neighbors, coaches, mentors, and other trusted adults. Each plays a different role: some teach, some protect, some model behavior, and some provide emotional support or stability. At its core, the saying highlights three main ideas:
Shared responsibility. Children aren’t shaped only at home. Schools, neighborhoods, and social environments all influence their values, habits, and opportunities.
Support for families. Parents don’t have to do everything alone. When a community offers childcare help, education, mentorship, and emotional support, children tend to grow up in more stable conditions.
Collective investment in the future. Raising children benefits everyone. Today’s children become tomorrow’s adults, so a community has a stake in their well-being and development.
In modern life, the “village” doesn’t have to be physical or close-knit in the traditional sense. It can include schools, online communities, youth programs, healthcare providers, and social services—all forming a network around a child.
A school is about so much more than just building s and technology. It is about the people who travel through it and the memories and successes they achieve together that will last a lifetime and will be remembered for so much longer. Being a parent is one of the hardest challenges in life and also one of the most rewarding. And we must do this together.
Take time to be quiet and reflect on what we are celebrating today and how together we can look forward to so much more in 2026/27.
You have the power of the universe with you from the day you are born. You are just waiting for it to shine out of you and for you to have your moment of success.
Enjoy today and thank you.

Awards Presentation
The tradition of speech day at Harrow has been upheld for over two centries. It is not only about academic results and awards, but also a solemn tribute to holistic education and a celebration of the values that define us: Courage, Honour, Humility, and Fellowship.
For the past six years, a spirit of enterprise and leadership has consistently defined Harrow Shenzhen’s journey. As Head Master Daniel Berrry has observed, true excellence – the kind that stands the test of time – requires patience, thoughtfulness, and wisdom to cultivate. This year marks yet another proud milestone in the building of that legacy.
