As a KS2 teacher, Amanda Wilde is dedicated to creating a classroom environment that fosters a growth mindset and encourages children to express themselves confidently while stepping outside their comfort zones. She firmly believes that collaboration is a vital skill and actively promotes teamwork, helping students develop a strong sense of belonging and community. Miss Wilde encourages students to embrace their creativity and take thoughtful risks within a supportive and secure framework, making learning both enjoyable and meaningful.


Michelle Cooper

15 years of experience in international education
Michelle Cooper has 15 years’ experience teaching EYFS and primary -both KS1 and KS2. Michelle Cooper previously lived in Shanghai, where she spent 8 years working in an international school. She is familiar with living in China and loves exploring the country, learning new customs and trying new things.


Emma Callowhill-Hawkins

Emma Callowhill-Hawkins has been a teacher for 8 years and she has a wide array of experience in EYFS, KS1 and KS2 in the UK and Cairo, Egypt.
As a class teacher, she creates an immersive, engaging and fair learning environment. Her student’s voices are valued and individuals’ needs and strengths are cared for and nurtured. Personal growth is of the utmost importance to her.


Suzanne Grennell
LS Early Reading Coordinator

15 years of experience in international education
Suzanne Grennell has coordinated sustainability programs with the aim of helping students lead change and develop their voice in creating a more sustainable school culture. She has a qualification in Positive Parenting and has received training as a children’s yoga & mindfulness coach.


Alwyn Stead
LS Subject Coordinator
Edge Hill University – Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Primary Education、QTS
12 years of experience in international education
Alwyn Stead has held various leadership roles, including coordinating the EAL department, serving as Assistant Head of Early Years, and currently leading as Head of Lower Primary in a primary school with over 50 nationalities in Bangkok, Thailand. Alwyn Stead has continued to develop professionally throughout his career, completing the National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership (NPQML) in 2019 and the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL) in 2023.

Grant Bowdery has previously taught in Kuwait, Kenya, Vietnam and the U.S., with his first teaching in Brighton on the south coast of the UK. Grant Bowdery thoroughly enjoys all the sciences and is always keen to promote the biological innovations that are at the forefront of research and development in a vast array of fields. He has previously held pastoral leadership positions and believes in the importance of a healthy mind and body as prerequisites to academic success.


Taila Western

With a strong academic background in and passion for English literature and language, Taila Western is committed to fostering student growth and a passion for learning. Raised in Hong Kong, Taila brings a global perspective to her teaching.


Simon Rodgers
US Maths Teacher

Mechanical Design Engineer
Simon Rodgers brings a unique and practical perspective to the classroom, drawing on his previous career as a mechanical design engineer.
He began his teaching career in the UK, where he taught for three years. Simon’s teaching philosophy is student-centered, and he is dedicated to cultivating a deep understanding of mathematics.


Stephen Hawkins

Stephen Hawkins has taught IGCSE, A-Level & IB Business & Economics in the UK and Egypt. For the past 2 years, Steve was Head of Humanities at an international school in Cairo.


Robert Miller
US Physics Teacher
University of Sunderland – PGCE
Aberystwyth University – Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Physics
12 years of experience in international education
Robert Miller has taught both GCSE/A-level Maths, physics and Further Maths. Working in various international school across China. He has also held several pastoral roles such as Head of House, Head of Year and Deputy Child Protection Officer.
Despite being passionate about Maths and science, he also has a keen passion for artistic and creative pursuits such as drawing, painting and creative writing.


Christopher Leyva
US PE Teacher
University of Portsmouth – Bachelor’s Degree in Sport and Exercise Science, PGCE, QTS
Christopher Leyva began his teaching career in the UK, bringing a solid foundation in physical education and student-centred learning. With a deep-rooted love for sport, Chris is particularly passionate about basketball and football, with extensive experience both playing and coaching across various levels. During his university years, he also played American football, and has more than a decade of climbing experience.

Member of the National Football Team
Hayley Sinclair’s teaching career spans two years in Scotland and a further two years in Abu Dhabi, prior to her relocation to China. Before entering the field of education, she played professional football for Glasgow City and had the honor of representing my country at the international level.


At its core, teaching is about inspiring lives –and at Harrow Shenzhen, our teachers light each student’s path with expertise and heartfelt dedication.
