On the Same Stage: Friendship Without Borders Through Music
This year’s concert is particularly special. The teachers and students of St. Joseph’s Primary School in Hong Kong visited Harrow Shenzhen for the first time, where they performed alongside with our students.
St. Joseph’s brings a 68-piece string orchestra and choir, performing The Barber of Seville Overture, Dvořák’s New World Symphony, as well as moving songs such as Beautiful City, Below the Lion Rock, and As You Wish.
When the music of Harrow and St. Joseph’s blends under the same dome, it reflects the shared belief of educators from Shenzhen and Hong Kong: music knows no borders, and collaboration has no limits.
From 8 AM to 8 PM: A Fully Committed “Music Marathon”
The entire school has spent a whole term preparing for this 120-minute performance. Every detail from stage blocking and technical rehearsals to lighting, sound, and stage management has been refined repeatedly.
For a child performing for the first time, playing an instrument before hundreds of eyes is a leap from “I dare not” to “I did it.” For choir students, weaving a folk song in multiple parts is an essential lesson in listening to others and to themselves. And for those about to graduate, every note of this collective performance becomes the brightest archive of their youth…
Ricky Ware
Head of Music (Whole School)
“Music has the power to bring people together, and this evening reflects the spirit of our school community through creativity, teamwork and performance.”
