At the Harrow Shenzhen Early Years Centre,
trust grows in a continuous cycle.
Three years of Melon’s growth at Harrow,
their eldest son, led the parents to
a clear decision—to also
enroll their younger son, Mateo,
at Harrow Shenzhen.
This unreserved trust stems from the three
core transformations they witnessed in Melon.
Nurturing a Little Gentleman
From “My Toy” to “Our Rules”
Melon was a curious toddler when
he first entered the pre-nursery.
Today, parents and teachers decribe him as
a caring, helpful “brother”
with a strong sense of order.

Melon’s Father
“He learned to express his wishes clearly. If he did not want to share a toy, he would calmly say, I don’t want to give it to you right now, rather than cry or snatch. He understood the concept of turn-takings and negotiating and discussed with his younger brother Mateo how to share playtime.”
His role as a classroom “helper” strengthened his sense of responsibility— “I want to take care of others.” This shift from self-focus to empathy, reflects the successful grounding of character education.
A Leap in English Ability
From “Starting from Zero” to Confident Expression
Melon knew only a few solitary words when he first entered school. His English ability today has been a delightful surprise to his parents. One vivid example is that he falls asleep every night listening to the English-language version of Journey to the West. Melon can follow complex, extended stories and even naturally use vocabulary unfamiliar to his parents.
Language no longer limits him; it has become a means to explore worlds through stories.

“At home, he even takes on the role of ‘little teacher,’ sharing stories and poems learned in class with his brother Mateo.”

A Passion for “Learning Through Play”
From Classroom Exploration to Home Experiments
The “learning through play” approach at Harrow Shenzhen Early Years Centre significantly stimulated his curiosity.
Mr Wen
Melon’s Father
“Music class inspired him a love for the piano and violin. He is enthusiastic about Lego building and science experiments, carrying that spirit of exploration back home—for instance, he uses a flashlight to demonstrate light and shadow experiment, showing how objects appear larger up close and smaller farther away.”
Learning is no longer a task but a passion and
habit that continues into everyday life.
Child‑Centered
Trust, Built Through Every Noticed Detail
Melon’s growth reflects the deep, accumulated trust between home and school: the genuinely warm and engaging smile of his pre-nursery teacher, the attentive guidance of nursery teacher, the dedication of reception teacher who stayed late to prepare themed classrooms, and the school’s thorough and careful approach to health matters.
These subtleties built unshakable trust—and led the family to choose Harrow again for Mateo.
Melon’s story is a heartwarming reflections of the growth of many Little Lions at Harrow Shenzhen. Here, change happens naturally, and the future unfolds with confidence.
