Organised under the guidance of
Ms Linda Wang, AISL Deputy Director of Education,
and Mr Marcus LAW of HHKCS,
students from four AISL Greater Bay Area schools
( HIS Shenzhen Qianhai, Hong Kong, HHKCS, and Hengqin) came together. Using language as a bridge,
they showcased the power of critical thinking
and expression in bilingual.
Bilingual Recitation, Diverse Formats:
Highlighting the Fusion of Language Arts
and Critical Thinking
The championship featured three main categories:
Recitation, Public Speaking, and Summit Forum,
all centred on the theme of “Honour”.
This guided students in multi-dimensional thinking
and artistic expression.

Recitation was divided into
Cantonese and Mandarin sections.
Students blended classical poetry with modern literature,
conveying cultural essence through rhythm,
tone, and delivery.

Speeches were clear, logical, and profound,
incorporating personal experiences and societal examples.
They resonated deeply with the audience.
as students demonstrated a high level of understanding
and personal insight into “honour”,
showcasing unique individual styles.

The Summit Forum tackled globally relevant issues
for young people:
“The Conflict and Balance between Class
and Individual Honour”
“Fabricated Honour on Social Media
and Adolescent Perception”
Using critical and innovative thinking,
it aimed to inspire students’ sense of
social responsibility and civic awareness.

As a key platform and bridge for
AISL inter-school activities,
the Huasheng Championship
continues the inaugural event’s vision of
“Voicing the Bay Area, Debating the Future”.
It provides students with valuable opportunities to
engage and learn alongside their Harrow peers.

Using Mandarin and Cantonese as mediums,
the event deepened cultural identity
within the Greater Bay Area.
Through meticulous training in pronunciation,
intonation, and emotional expression,
students significantly enhanced their linguistic precision
and ability to adapt on stage.
Performing helped them overcome nerves,
building self-confidence
and the composure needed to face challenges.

“The Huasheng Championship is more than a competition; it’s a practical expression of Harrow’s educational philosophy,” emphasised Mr Marcus LAW. ” We are committed to creating a brilliant platform where students refine their language artistry, deepen their global perspective, and become future leaders equipped with cultural depth and global competence.”

Critical Debates, Global Insights Harrow students interpreted “honour”
from diverse perspectives.
Using “Bilingual”, they demonstrated
the wisdom and flair to
build cultural bridges.
While viewpoints and stances varied,
they consistently maintained an attitude of
active listening and understanding.

We look forward to their continued growth
and achievements on their journey towards excellence,
becoming well-rounded future navigators.
